Center for Food Action Food Drive: Please help!
Nine bags of donations went to CFA on Wednesday, April 20th. That brings the total to 111 bags donated this year. The CFA desperately needs our help. Please consider bringing at least one bag of non-perishable food per month. Thank you!
Relief for Japan: The Presbyterian Church (USA) is supporting relief efforts in Japan. If you would like to contribute to the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance Japanese Relief Fund, please write your check payable to PDA and note: DR000117 in the memo line and leave it in the offering plate. Donations will be accepted and distributed so long as there is need. Thank you for your ongoing prayers and donations for our brothers and sisters in Japan who are suffering in the aftermath of a terrible earthquake and tsunami.
Please join us for a "vacation" you'll never forget!
Mission at the Eastward cooperates as a parish of congregations and ministries located in West Central Maine bound together in Christ to witness and work by reaching out both locally and globally to individuals, congregations and communities by creating a place where God's gifts and graces are multiplied and exemplified.
This summer a group of individuals from our church will be going to Farmington Maine the week of July 23-30th to take part in a wonderful mission opportunity. This group of people, 15 and older will help repair, rehabilitate, and construct the homes of elderly, handicapped, and low income people to help better their lives and the lives of the community. We will be staying on the campus of the University of Maine in Farmington and once again joining the group from Camp Hill, PA to work, play, and dine side by side for the week.
How can you help? By volunteering your time, tools, or donating to this wonderful cause. We need to have our group of 20-25 people together by May, and we need you to sign up to come with us! The cost of the week is still yet to be determined but will not exceed $325.00 pp. We will be scheduling an informational meeting for April that you can learn more about the trip. If you have any questions regarding this trip before that, please contact Karen Robator by calling her at the church.
From Shelter Our Sisters, which provides safe havens for battered women in Bergen County, to Cook College & Theological School, which enables American Indians in Arizona to earn a Christian degree, we reach out as our Lord commands us. With the money we receive in our weekly offerings and dedicated contributions to mission outreach programs, we reveal the hand of God to prison orphans in Macau, to tsunami victims in Indonesia, and to those devastated by Katrina. Children in Paterson and teen mothers in Englewood are more secure because of you.
Ex convicts in Hackensack hear God’s word and get a leg up as they attempt to make a new life.
But Jesus also expects us to give of our time and talent. When we host or cook at a homeless overflow shelter here in Ramsey or the family homeless shelter in Englewood, Christ is there. Through mission trips to help rebuilt post-Katrina New Orleans, to soup kitchens in Newark, to the colonias of Mexico, or to “the last home on the last road” in rural Maine, we provide opportunities to make of ourselves an offering to our Lord and to bring the Good News to the world both home and abroad that God loves us all… always has and always will.
